Brandon Spikes got his hand slapped for an offense that should really have put him in jail or at least got him shut out for the season, but no-he has to sit out only the 1st half of the game against Vanderbilt. Splikes jammed his fingers thru the mask of Ealey, trying to put his eyes out. If he had succeeded-would the punishment be harsher? Somehow, our athletes are becoming sacro sanct–the true untouchables. Are they above the law–I think not.

I agree Boopster. When are we as a society gonna quit worshipping these thugs. I must say that most are not but there are those out there that feel they ARE above the law because someone has been getting them out of trouble all of their lives. When are we gonna start teaching responsibility?
I don’t see Tiger being responsible either. He’s got the money to lay low for a while so he chickens out & takes the easy way. Not only has he driven a dagger into his family but dissappointed millions of fans & black Americans that don’t even follow golf who felt yeah this is what I want my child to be like & were proud that a black man dominated a sport that for too long was a white sport only. If Earl was alive I think he would whup Tiger’s ass.

Another form of thug worship just made the news. Michael Vick has recieved the Ed Block Courage Award.

    From Yahoo Sports:
“Each year, the Ed Block Courage Awards honors those National Football League players who exemplify commitments to the principles of sportsmanship and courage. Recipients are selected by their teammates for team effort, as well as individual performance. The Ed Block Courage Award recipient symbolizes professionalism, great strength and dedication. He is also a community role model.”

They say it took courage to face the medi, PETA & all the fans that ostricized him. One season does not an idol make. Excuse me…I forgot the times we’re living in. Anyway…Obama was nominated for the Nobel with just a couple of months in the White House & said after accepting the award that he now has to live up to it. I guess Vick can follow suit, plus now we know what kind of men the Eagles really are.
